Degrees to radians formula

The exact conversion is radians = degrees × π/180. Keep π in the result whenever possible.

The formula

Degrees to radians

radians = degrees × π / 180

Because a half turn is 180° and π radians, multiplying by π/180 converts the degree measure into radians.

Deriving the conversion

Since 180 degrees and π radians describe the same half turn, a degree is π/180 radians. Multiplying by this unit factor preserves the angle while changing its notation.

For 90 degrees, 90 × π/180 simplifies to π/2. For 45 degrees, the result is π/4.
